Dr. Dexter Sun, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Dexter Sun has been practicing neurology in New York City for many years. With patients from all over the world, including many well-known CEOs, ambassadors, high-level government officials, and famous artists and celebrities, Dr. Sun's high-level of medical skill and experience is undisputable.

Dr. Sun entered the clinical field in 1993 after completing his neurology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell University Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. His earlier medical training was completed at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University Medical School. Five years ago, he joined the clinical faculty and became an attending physician at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and the Hospital for Special Surgery affiliated with the Cornell University-Weill Medical College. He remains an active teacher at the medical college, instructing both medical students and neurology residents. In addition, he has established one of the busiest and most successful neurology practices in the City.

Over the past several years, Dr. Sun has been invited to give scientific talks at many prestigious medical institutions, including Rockefeller University, the Pasteur Institute in Paris, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Cornell University Medical Center, the University of Genova, Zhejiang University, and Shanghai Second Medical College.

Prior to studying and practicing medicine in the United States, Dr. Sun lived in Hanzhou, China. He came to the United States 21 years ago with a degree from Zhejiang Medical College (now Zhejiang University School of Medicine). He received his Ph.D. in molecular neurobiology from University of Wisconsin in 1991. As an outstanding graduate student, Dr. Sun was invited to give a scientific talk in Europe, and also received a young scientist award from the International Society of Neurochemistry. He subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Rockefeller University in New York, an institution known internationally for its advanced biology research.

Dr. Sun is a Board certified neurologist and electromyographer. In addition, he is also a member of a number of medical associations, including the American Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has also served as the president of the American Association of Chinese Physicians and is listed in the American Registry of Outstanding Professionals. He is the Co-Chairman of the National Republican-Medical Advisory. Recently, he founded Sino United Health, a top of the line medical center focusing on neurology and rehabilitation medicine in Shanghai, China.
